Islam grows fastest globally due to population increases

Islam is the world's fastest-growing religion, according to a new Pew Research Center study released on Monday, June 9th, 2025. This growth is primarily due to natural population increases. The study, analyzing data from 2010 to 2020, found the Muslim population grew by 347 million. Christianity, though still the largest religion with 2.3 billion adherents, saw its percentage of the global population decline. The religiously unaffiliated are the third-largest group globally, with significant growth in North America and Europe. The study also examined shifts in other religions, including Buddhism and Hinduism.
