Islam grew fastest; Christianity remains largest religion globally

Islam is the world's fastest-growing religion, while Christianity remains the largest despite a decline in its growth rate. The religiously unaffiliated population also saw significant growth. The Pew Research report, based on thousands of surveys, shows the Muslim population increased by 1.8% between 2010 and 2020. Christianity's share decreased, though its population still grew by 122 million. This shift is influenced by population growth in Muslim-majority countries and religious switching, particularly among young adults. Hinduism and Judaism also saw steady growth, while Buddhism declined.
