Irish political parties report fake accounts on Bluesky platform

Multiple Irish political parties, including Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, and the Social Democrats, have reported fake accounts on the social media platform Bluesky. These accounts falsely use party names and logos, misleading users. Fine Gael identified a fake profile of Taoiseach Simon Harris, which warned about election misinformation. Fianna Fáil confirmed that accounts claiming to represent them, including those of leader Micheál Martin, are not legitimate. The rise in Bluesky users, now over 20 million, has led to increased impersonation issues. While some parties have verified accounts, others, like Fianna Fáil and the Social Democrats, do not currently have official presences on the platform.
