The Revenue Customs Service in Ireland has launched its first recruitment drive for clerical officers to work on patrol boats. The Maritime Unit aims to fill over a dozen vacancies for law enforcement roles at sea. The unit currently operates two patrol vessels and will receive a new boat next September. It monitors Ireland's 3,173 kilometers of coastline to combat smuggling and drug trafficking. In the past year, Revenue has seized drugs worth €302 million, including €157 million in cocaine. So far in 2024, €170 million worth of drugs have been confiscated.
