Iraqi company to become a major Romanian energy producer with new gas power plant and storage facilities

An Iraqi company will become a major Romanian energy producer by building a new gas power plant and significant energy storage facilities. Mass Global Energy Rom SRL is constructing a 1,700 MW gas power plant at Mintia, set to be the EU's largest. They also plan to invest €1 billion in 2,500 MW of battery storage. The Mintia plant, acquired in 2022, is nearing completion this year, with energy production expected by September 2026. The government has pledged support for its grid connection.
