Iran delays Hamas funding over West Bank inaction, report says
Iran is delaying renewal of financial support for Hamas due to dissatisfaction with the group's failure to undermine stability in the West Bank, according to a KAN News report Tuesday. A senior Hamas delegation visited Tehran in early September, meeting Iranian officials including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf. A Palestinian source said Iran made no commitment to renew funding, citing Hamas's inability to influence West Bank conditions. Israeli officials noted West Bank terror levels are at their lowest since 2011, attributed to combined operations by the Judea and Samaria Division, Shin Bet, and police. The IDF recently reinforced the area to about 25 battalions amid rising tensions and settler violence.
