iPhone users can now reach emergency services via satellite messaging

news.yahoo.com

iPhone users can now connect to satellites to reach emergency services or send messages during a crisis. This feature is available on iPhone 14 and later models running iOS 16.1 or newer. To use Emergency SOS via satellite, go outside and find a clear view of the sky. If your call to 911 fails, tap the SOS icon to connect with emergency responders. Your location will be shared automatically. Messages via satellite allows users to send texts to Apple and Android devices, but not photos or group texts. This service is also available on Google Pixel 9 devices, which can contact emergency services via satellite.
