iPhone 16 Pro and 15 Pro introduce ProRes Log video for enhanced video quality
The iPhone 16 Pro and 15 Pro can now shoot video in Apple ProRes format with a Log color profile, allowing for high-quality footage. This feature is aimed at professional video producers, offering better data capture than standard video. To enable ProRes and Log video, users must adjust settings in the Camera section of the iPhone. While ProRes can be toggled in the Camera app, switching between Log and HDR requires going back to Settings. Log footage appears flat and low-contrast, needing color grading in editing software. Editing Log video is best done on a computer using programs like DaVinci Resolve, which offers advanced color grading tools. While ProRes Log is not necessary for casual users, it provides professionals with enhanced flexibility and quality for video production.
