Iowa high school baseball standouts Gable Mitchell, Kaleb LaFavor, and Caleb Klein drafted by MLB teams

Several Iowa high school baseball standouts were selected in the 2026 Major League Baseball draft. Gable Mitchell, Kaleb LaFavor, and Caleb Klein were among those drafted. Gable Mitchell, an Iowa City High grad, was picked by the Toronto Blue Jays. Kaleb LaFavor, a senior at Sioux City Bishop Heelan, was selected by the Boston Red Sox. Caleb Klein, a Western Dubuque High School prep, was drafted by the Atlanta Braves. The MLB draft took place July 11-12, 2026, in Philadelphia. Other former Iowa high school players, Sam George, Nate Smithburg, and Kooper Schulte, also heard their names called.
