Insurance worker sentenced for accessing private claim data in Bolton
Rizwan Manjra, a car insurance worker from Bolton, received a suspended six-month jail sentence for illegally accessing private claim data while processing insurance claims. He worked for Markerstudy Insurance Services Limited in Manchester. An internal investigation revealed that Manjra accessed 160 out of 185 flagged claims, despite not having the necessary permissions. He also accessed claims outside of work hours without claiming overtime. The Information Commissioner's Office found that Manjra shared personal data with another individual via mobile phone. He was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work as part of his sentence.
