Indonesian fishermen sue Bumble Bee over supply chain abuse

Four Indonesian fishermen have filed a lawsuit against Bumble Bee Seafoods, claiming the company knew about abuse in its tuna supply chain. This case is believed to be the first of its kind against a U.S. seafood company for forced labor at sea. The lawsuit alleges violations of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, stating the fishermen were beaten and trapped on vessels owned by Chinese companies supplying Bumble Bee. They seek compensation for unpaid wages and systemic changes in the industry. Bumble Bee has not commented on the ongoing litigation. The fishermen's lawyer noted that the company had been warned about inhumane conditions in its supply chain in the past.
