Indonesia rejects Apple's investment offer as iPhone 16 ban continues
Indonesia banned the iPhone 16 series last month due to Apple's failure to meet investment commitments. Apple initially pledged $10 million, then increased it to $110 million, but this still did not satisfy the government. The Indonesian Industry Ministry rejected Apple's latest offer, stating that a larger investment is needed to integrate the country into Apple's global supply chain. Apple has invested $95 million so far, falling short of its original commitment of $109 million. Under Indonesian law, foreign companies must provide 40% local content to operate. Apple now faces an indefinite ban on the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch 10 series due to unmet investment criteria.
