India's electric vehicle sales hit a record high in July 2026, with 327,901 units sold, a 66% annual growth, according to FADA. The surge follows petrol and diesel price rises amid West Asia conflict and reports that ethanol-blended fuel reduces efficiency. EVs now make up 12% of new registrations, with one in eight vehicles sold being electric, FADA vice president Sai Giridhar said. Electric two-wheelers led with 204,362 units, up 88.32% year-on-year, while passenger vehicles rose 83.13% to 32,928. Three-wheelers totaled 87,055 and commercial vehicles 3,556.
