Indian trader faked abduction to avoid debt

A 35-year-old diamond trader and his wife staged his abduction, according to a police report submitted to court on Saturday. The report concludes the March 3rd incident was a misleading case. Police investigations revealed inconsistencies in the couple's statements and the crime sequence. The trader, facing over 1 crore rupees in debt, was tracked via CCTV and a bus to Mumbai before returning to Pune. The wife initially reported a ransom demand of 2 crore rupees. The police determined the couple fabricated the abduction to avoid repaying debts to six businessmen.
