Indian-origin NASA astronaut Anil Menon completes first spacewalk

Indian-origin NASA astronaut Anil Menon completed his first spacewalk on Thursday, spending 6 hours 27 minutes outside the ISS with Jessica Meir to prepare a power channel for upgrades. NASA confirmed the spacewalk ended at 12:30 am IST on August 7 after the astronauts completed their primary objectives. The work prepares the station's 3B power channel for future Roll-Out Solar Arrays that will boost electricity for the ageing laboratory. It was US Spacewalk 96 and the 281st supporting ISS maintenance. Meir completed her sixth spacewalk, while Menon continues his mission supporting research and station operations before future solar array installations.
