India unveils first Hyperloop test track at IIT Madras

India has completed its first Hyperloop test track, measuring 410 meters, at IIT Madras' Discovery Campus in Thaiyur. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this development on December 5, showcasing progress in high-speed transportation. The test track is a collaboration between Indian Railways, IIT Madras' Avishkar Hyperloop team, and the TuTr startup. Initial tests have been conducted at speeds of 100 km/h, with plans to increase speeds to 600 km/h on longer tracks. This initiative aims to advance Hyperloop technology for efficient and sustainable transportation in India, potentially enhancing the existing Metro Rail system.
