India reduces number of vital installations following security audit

The Ministry of Home Affairs has reported a decrease in vital installations in India, from 784 to 766, following a security audit after the 2023 Parliament breach. This review led to upgrades and downgrades in security categorization. The vital installations include 72 sensitive government buildings, now classified into five categories based on threat levels. The Central Industrial Security Force received a budget increase to enhance security measures for these sites. Security for government buildings is managed by various forces, including the CISF and SSF. Access is regulated through visitor passes, ensuring only authorized personnel can enter sensitive areas.
