India poised to gain from US-China trade tensions
India is expected to benefit from the renewed US-China trade war, with increased export orders in sectors like electrical machinery, auto components, and pharmaceuticals. This follows a similar trend during the last trade war when India was a significant beneficiary. In the first nine months of FY25, India's goods exports to the US reached about $60 billion, while imports were $33.4 billion. The US tariffs on Chinese goods are likely to make Indian products more competitive in the American market. Officials noted that while India stands to gain, it will not be completely insulated from the trade war's effects. The US may retaliate against China's tariff measures, impacting trade dynamics further.
