India issues 1.4 million Ayushman Vay Vandana cards for seniors over 70
The Indian government has created approximately 1.4 million Ayushman Vay Vandana cards for senior citizens aged 70 and above. This initiative, part of the expanded Ayushman Bharat scheme, offers free treatment benefits regardless of socio-economic status. Eligible seniors can access cashless healthcare for 1,961 procedures across 27 specialties, including surgeries and treatments for various medical conditions. States can customize health benefit packages to meet local needs. Additionally, the U-WIN digital platform has been fully rolled out to improve vaccination services for pregnant women and children. As of November 25, 2024, over 7.4 crore beneficiaries are registered, with nearly 28 crore vaccine doses administered.
