In government-controlled Ukraine, first-graders get 5,000 hryvnia via Diia or Pension Fund

Ukrainian families can now apply for a one-time 5,000-hryvnia “School Student’s Package” per first-grader online via Diia or in person at Pension Fund offices. Parents, adopters, or legal guardians of children entering first grade in government-controlled areas can apply until November 1, 2026. Funds go to a special account and must be spent on school clothing, shoes, books, stationery within 12 months. The program started in 2025; around 191,000 special accounts were opened last year. The in-person option ensures families without smartphones or the Diia app can still receive aid.
