Illinois man choked dog to death during deadly attack

A man in Illinois, Matt Porter, was attacked by his rescue dog, Karma, for 45 minutes, resulting in over 70 bites. He lost the use of one hand and had to choke the dog to save himself. Porter underwent three reconstructive surgeries and spent a week in the hospital. He has since quit his job as a tree surgeon and is struggling with daily tasks due to his injuries. Porter adopted Karma four months prior, nursing her back to health after she was found malnourished. He noted signs of aggression but did not anticipate the attack.
