IIT-Madras team assesses landslip site in Tiruvannamalai after deadly disaster
A team from the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras inspected the landslip site in Tiruvannamalai on Tuesday, following a disaster that killed seven people, including five children. The landslip occurred near Arunachala Hill on Sunday. The IIT-M team, consisting of civil engineering professors, assessed the damage and plans to submit recommendations to the state government within two days. They noted that continuous rain weakened the soil and rocks, leading to the landslip. On Tuesday, the National Disaster Response Force recovered two more bodies, bringing the total to seven. Family members of the victims protested the delay in body retrieval, but authorities assured them, leading to a peaceful resolution.
