IIT BHU director Amit Patra takes on additional role at IIT Kharagpur

Professor Amit Patra, currently the Director of IIT BHU, has taken on the additional role of Director at IIT Kharagpur as of December 31, 2024. He succeeds Professor Virendra Kumar Tewari, who served since December 31, 2019. Professor Patra is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, where he completed his degrees and has been a faculty member since 1987. He has held various administrative roles and has a strong background in VLSI and power management. Professor Tewari's tenure included significant events, such as the death of a student in 2022 and recent disciplinary actions against faculty over recruitment practices.
