IIM Rohtak director suspended over alleged financial misappropriation
The Indian government has directed the chairman of IIM Rohtak to suspend director Dheeraj Sharma or place him on leave amid an investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds. The board must also appoint a new acting director not involved in financial matters. The inquiry, ordered by the President, follows findings of serious financial irregularities at IIM Rohtak, including inflated financial reports and improper payments to Sharma. The investigation will also verify the educational qualifications of Sharma and other staff. Prof. Manoj Tiwari from IIM Mumbai will lead the probe, which is expected to conclude in three months. The investigation was prompted by earlier inquiries that revealed violations of financial management rules at the institute.
