igraph 1.0 brings fast, stable network analysis to Python, R, and Mathematica

The igraph software library, a tool for network analysis used across scientific fields, has released version 1.0 after twenty years of development, now offering a stable and robust platform with over a million monthly downloads. The library pairs a fast C core with beginner-friendly interfaces for Python, R, and Mathematica, enabling it to handle networks with billions of edges. It includes hundreds of functions for graph construction, community detection, and layout, and is significantly faster than the popular NetworkX library in most benchmark tests. The release also focuses on community growth, featuring improved documentation, a public user forum, and a new governance structure. A workshop with Women in Network Science trained 25 women to use the software, part of broader efforts to increase diversity among users and contributors.
