Iglesia ni Cristo attracts 1.8 million to peace rally in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) held a large peace rally on Monday, attracting around 1.8 million participants across various cities. The event aimed to promote unity and peace amid political tensions, despite the presence of numerous politicians. The rally, described as peaceful, took place at Quirino Grandstand in Manila, where most attendees gathered. INC leaders emphasized that the event was not politically motivated, although it coincided with ongoing impeachment discussions involving Vice President Sara Duterte. While INC members were instructed to avoid political endorsements, several politicians attended, including senators aligned with the current administration. The INC has not yet endorsed any candidates for the upcoming midterm elections.
