ICE Accused of Arresting Parents at Danbury School Bus Stops

Senator Chris Murphy accused ICE of arresting parents at school bus stops in Danbury, Connecticut, saying agents waited until children boarded buses, leaving them scared and alone. He provided no evidence for the timing claim. Immigrant advocacy group Greater Danbury Area Unites for Immigrants reported 48 arrests over three days, including 22 on the second day of school. A Facebook video from a school bus shows unmarked vehicles, with witnesses describing ICE circling bus stops as children returned home. Danbury has a large immigrant community, with about 35 percent of residents born outside the U.S., according to Census Bureau estimates. Newsweek has contacted DHS and ICE for comment on the allegations.
