Hyundai has launched its XCIENT hydrogen fuel cell electric semi trucks in Georgia, marking a significant step in hydrogen technology for heavy-duty trucking. The fleet consists of 21 trucks designed for logistics operations at Hyundai's Georgia Mega-site. Each XCIENT truck features a powerful electric motor with 470 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission, allowing for efficient performance. The trucks are expected to have a range of about 250 miles. Hyundai plans to install a mobile hydrogen refueling station at the site to enhance fueling efficiency and manage hydrogen supply. This initiative is part of a joint venture with Glovis America, named HTWO Logistics.
