A man was electrocuted while hunting near Srivilliputtur in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when 37-year-old S. Murugan came in contact with an illegal electric fence. Murugan, from Mangapuram, was hunting rabbits with a friend, M. Madamuthu. They were in a cotton farm owned by a local farmer named Mariappan. To protect his crops from wild boars and deer, Mariappan had set up iron cables connected to a live electric source. Despite wearing a torchlight on his forehead, Murugan did not see the uninsulated wires on the ground. He stepped on them and was killed instantly. Local police have taken his body to the Government Hospital for an autopsy. They are currently investigating the incident.
