How to get a firewood and coal subsidy in Ukraine for 2026

Ukrainians who heat their homes with firewood, coal, or other solid fuel can receive a one-time annual housing subsidy for its purchase, covering a single heating season. The subsidy is available to households without central heating that do not use natural gas or electricity for individual heating. It can be combined with utility subsidies, and the amount is calculated individually based on household income from 2025. The maximum calculated assistance is 9,205.14 hryvnias, based on a 2-tonne norm at a set price. Applications are not automatic and must be submitted personally by December 31, 2026, for the 2026-2027 season. Required documents include an application and income declaration, which can be filed via Pension Fund offices, administrative centers, mail, or the online portal.
