Houthi attacks on Riyadh airport kill 3 Saudis
Three Saudi citizens were killed and several others wounded in two attacks Thursday targeting Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport and a Saudia Airlines aircraft, Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation said Friday. It was the deadliest attack in the country since a major Saudi-led offensive began last weekend against Houthi rebels in Yemen. The first attack struck airport facilities, while the second hit the aircraft, the statement said. The Houthis claimed responsibility, saying they targeted the airport with a ballistic missile. Injuries ranged from minor to serious among citizens and residents of various nationalities, though airport operations have returned to normal. The airport has faced multiple attacks, including one earlier this week that killed a Sudanese national. The Houthi rebels are backed by Iran, and the conflict in Yemen has escalated following the recent military campaign by Saudi Arabia and allied forces.
