House committee subpoenas ActBlue over foreign donor concerns and security issues

House Republicans have subpoenaed the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue to investigate its donor verification processes. This action follows concerns about potential foreign donor exploitation and inadequate security measures, particularly regarding the lack of credit card verification for online donations. ActBlue recently began requiring credit card verification values, addressing some criticisms. However, the subpoena comes after reports of suspicious transactions flagged by banks, prompting further scrutiny from the House Oversight Committee and the Treasury Department. The House Administration Committee is seeking more information on ActBlue's donor policies and past donations. Legislation has also been introduced to enforce stricter vetting processes for political donations and to prohibit contributions from prepaid gift cards.
