Hope Academy reaches 1A state title game in Illinois

Hope Academy's Tyjuan Hunter led his team to a 56-50 victory over St. Anthony in the Class 1A state semifinals. Hunter scored 17 points and provided 10 assists, showcasing improved pacing from last season. The Eagles dominated early, leading 22-10 at halftime. St. Anthony struggled offensively, failing to score until late in the second quarter. Hope's defense, particularly from Jaiden Simmons and Trentyn McGinnis, stifled St. Anthony's inside game. Hope Academy will compete for the state championship on Saturday, aiming for their first title. They previously finished third in 2017 and last season.
