Home brain stimulation device shows promise in reducing depression symptoms, study finds
A new study published in *Nature Medicine* shows that a home-use brain stimulation headset can significantly reduce depression symptoms. In the study, 87 adults using the active device for 10 weeks reported better outcomes than those using a placebo headset. The active treatment led to 45% of participants achieving remission from depression, compared to 22% in the placebo group. The device, made by Flow Neuroscience, is designed to stimulate specific brain areas to rebalance activity related to depression. Currently available in Europe and seeking FDA approval in the U.S., the device allows patients to manage their treatment at home. The study indicates that this method could be a safe and effective alternative to traditional clinical settings for depression therapy.
