Ho Chi Minh City's $7B flood control project to hand over in mid-November

vietnamnet.vn (Vietnamese) —

A nearly 10,000 billion VND flood control project in Ho Chi Minh City is scheduled for handover in mid-November 2026, with the investor committing to 100% effectiveness for 6.5 million residents. Started in 2016 under a BT format, the project was originally due in 2018 but faced delays. About 1,500 workers are now working three shifts to finish remaining items, including control houses and gate systems, ahead of the November 15 handover of eight major tide-control culverts and related infrastructure. Residents near the works report improved local roads and embankments. Investor Trung Nam Group asserts the system will fully achieve its flood-prevention goals, though roughly 19 smaller culvert and dike points still require city-level solutions for complete integration.
