Historic Nichewaug Inn in Massachusetts demolished after years of abandonment

The Nichewaug Inn in Petersham, Massachusetts, was a historic hotel built in 1899. It later became a boarding school after being purchased by the Sisters of the Assumption in 1952. The inn fell into disrepair and had been mostly empty since the 1980s. Despite efforts to save it, the building was demolished in 2022. Photographer Matthew Christopher documented the site before its destruction, sharing images of the abandoned structure. His work focuses on exploring and telling the stories of abandoned places.
