On Hiroshima's 81st atomic bombing anniversary, a curator is working urgently to record aging survivors' testimonies, translating videos into 20+ languages to spread awareness globally. At the National Hiroshima Memorial Hall, 517 testimony videos have been produced, but production fell from about 50 annually in the early 2000s to six last year as survivors age. In 2025, nearly one million foreign visitors visited the Peace Memorial Museum. Curator Yuri Watanabe, moved to tears reciting an atomic bomb poem, recently recorded 91-year-old survivor Kazue Yoshida at her family's urging. She urges viewers to see the testimonies as relevant amid rising nuclear tensions.
