HIPPO password manager generates unique passwords from a master password without storing data

A new password manager, HIPPO, generates unique passwords for each site from a single master password without storing any data. HIPPO uses cryptographic functions to create site-specific passwords on demand, which users found more secure and trustworthy than traditional methods in a study. Published in IEEE Internet Computing, the research suggests users prefer HIPPO's approach despite an extra step, though further long-term studies are planned.
