Hindustan Aeronautics secures first civil contract for Dhruv-NG helicopter
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has secured its first contract for the civil variant of its Dhruv-NG helicopter, awarded by ONGC for offshore operations. This contract, valued over ₹2,141 crore, marks a significant step into the civil aviation market. The Dhruv-NG, a multi-role helicopter, is expected to benefit from increasing demand in the civil sector. It has already gained interest in the military market, with discussions ongoing with several developing countries. The helicopter is certified for both military and civil operations, with over 335 military units currently in use. The contract with ONGC involves four new helicopters for a 10-year period, highlighting HAL's ambitions in the growing civil aviation segment.
