Hindu representation in Pakistani Army grows with 200 active soldiers

The Pakistani Army has approximately 200 Hindu soldiers among its 654,000 active and 500,000 reserve personnel. This marks a significant change since Hindus were not allowed to join the army until 2000. In 2022, two Hindu officers, Major Dr. Kailash Kumar and Major Dr. Anil Kumar, were promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, highlighting the increasing representation of Hindus in the military. Hindus make up about 1.18 percent of Pakistan's population, which is predominantly Muslim. The inclusion of Hindus in the army reflects a gradual shift in recruitment policies over the past two decades.
