news.yahoo.com

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest will temporarily close High Rock Trail No. 266 this summer for safety during the restoration of the historic High Rock Lookout. The lookout, built in the early 1930s, is being reconstructed after being disassembled in 2021. The trail will remain open until July 4, then close from July 7 to September 15 for restoration work. Access to Forest Service Road 8440 will also be restricted on July 7 and 8 for helicopter operations. Hikers can use nearby trails, including Osborne Mountain Trail, Teeley Creek Trail, and Big Creek Trail, while High Rock Trail is closed. More information about the restoration project is available online.
