Heavy Rain Warning for Tokyo and Kanto: Monday Morning Commute at Risk

Forecasts predict up to 60 millimeters of rainfall per hour in northern and southern Kanto and northern Izu Islands, with risks of flooding in low-lying areas and underground spaces, as well as river swelling. The heavy rain is caused by moist air from Typhoon No. 24 flowing into a front near Japan's southern coast. The Izu Islands have already seen record rainfall, with a "Level 5" emergency warning issued for landslides.
