Heavy rain forces school closures across Kanto region

Heavy rain in the Kanto region has led to a wave of school closures for elementary and junior high schools, with local governments prioritizing student safety. Saitama City has declared a temporary closure for all 167 public schools on the 7th due to a heavy rain warning. Tokyo's Chiyoda, Taito, and Setagaya wards, along with all of Tochigi Prefecture, have also announced closures. The closures come as Typhoon No. 24 is expected to become a tropical depression by the morning of the 7th, with a seasonal rain front stalling through the 10th, potentially causing heavy rainfall and linear precipitation zones in the Izu Islands.
