HDMI 2.2 set to launch in 2025 but current cables remain sufficient for most users

The HDMI Forum will reveal the next HDMI specification, likely HDMI 2.2, on January 6, 2025. This new version will require a different cable and offer higher bandwidth, resolutions, and refresh rates for content producers. Current HDMI 2.1 cables are sufficient for most users, especially those with 4K TVs, as they can handle uncompressed 4K content and dynamic HDR. Even 8K TVs do not require HDMI 2.2 yet, as native 8K content is limited. HDMI 2.2 will mainly benefit developers and manufacturers, as the new capabilities are not yet utilized by existing content or devices. For now, users do not need to upgrade their equipment.
