Hawe's sister wants better Garda murder-suicide understanding
The sister of Clodagh Hawe, murdered in a 2016 murder-suicide, is urging for improved Garda understanding of such cases after critical investigative errors. Jacqueline Connolly, Clodagh's sister, revealed that the initial Garda investigation into the deaths of Clodagh, her three sons, and Alan Hawe missed crucial evidence, including CCTV and digital data. A 2019 review by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris identified these shortcomings. Connolly, who has written a book about the tragedy, wants the 2019 review made public to help identify warning signs of "family annihilators." She also noted that Garda training will now emphasize treating murder-suicide investigations as potential prosecutions.
