Haryana to build 13-acre driver training institute in Ambala
Haryana will establish a 13-acre Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) at Shahpur village in Ambala Cantonment, announced Transport Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday, with an agreement signed with Ashok Leyland Ltd. The institute will train drivers of heavy and light vehicles through scientific modules, offering fresh courses, refresher training, licence renewal, and specialised programmes for goods and hazardous material drivers. It will feature digital classrooms, simulators, and training tracks simulating real-life conditions. The facility aims to train around 2,000 new drivers and provide refresher training to nearly 20,000 drivers annually, benefiting regions including Ambala, Yamunanagar, Panchkula, Kurukshetra, and Jind.
