Haryana reports 6% increase in drug conviction rate for 2024
Haryana's conviction rate for drug-related cases under the NDPS Act rose from 48% in 2023 to 54% in 2024. The state reported nearly 5,000 arrests for drug crimes, including 1,000 major traffickers. To combat drug trafficking, Haryana established an interstate secretariat in Panchkula for better cooperation with neighboring states. An anti-narcotics task force with 11 units is also operational across the state. In education, Chief Minister Nayab Saini is working on improving facilities in colleges and addressing teacher shortages. A framework for competitive exams in smart classrooms aims to enhance access for rural students.
