Hamburg students build compact detector for dark matter search

techno.nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Hamburg students developed a compact detector to search for dark matter particles called axions. Their "cosmic radio" device uses a resonant cavity to detect hypothetical axions, a leading dark matter candidate. The findings, published in the Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, set new experimental limits on axion properties. This student-led project demonstrates that significant cosmological research can be achieved with smaller budgets and simpler equipment, potentially leading to standard university lab tools.
