Halifax acupuncturist receives six-month jail sentence for sexual assault

A Halifax acupuncturist, Xiao Han Li, has been sentenced to six months in jail for sexual assault. The sentence was issued in provincial court on Tuesday. Li, 36, must also complete 12 months of probation and pay restitution of $1,754. He was previously charged in 2019 after a woman reported an assault at his clinic. Li was convicted of another sexual assault in 2023, receiving a conditional discharge and three years of probation. He was acquitted of a separate charge in March 2024, with other charges withdrawn.
