Halesowen undertaker proposes converting coffin factory into children's soft play area

A former coffin factory in Halesowen could become a children’s soft play area, as Dudley Council planners prepare to rule on the conversion proposal. The unit on Victoria Road, owned by FP Gaunt & Sons funeral directors, was used for coffin manufacturing before becoming storage about 15 years ago. It would accommodate up to eight children and create three jobs. Owners support the application, calling it a positive outcome. They say current industrial use is constrained by nearby homes, while the small-scale proposal suits the residential area.
